Fresh Thinking in Business

TED Talks
Since their inception in 1984, TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conferences have rapidly established themselves as the most inspiring events across the globe. Former speakers include 42nd President of the USA, Bill Clinton; oceanographer and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle; and Oscar-winning film maker James Cameron. To further increase its mission to spread ideas, TED Talks are available online as podcasts, and, unlike the conference format, are limited by neither subject matter nor time. Such has been their popularity, the entire TED website has been re-engineered around TEDTalks,
with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world’s most inspiring voices.
Recent highlights include cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle describing the spectacular arrival of fast-paced Twenty20 cricket as it parallels the rise of modern India, and Internet founder Tim Berners-Lee who shows what can happen when gov-ernments, scientists, and institutions cooperate to make their data openly available on the web.

Entrepreneur Report
Economic Crisis or Opportunity, 2.1MB Ernst & Young Publications This summarised report provides a compelling view of challenges for 21st century entrepreneurs. It features interviews with 35 of the world’s best entrepreneurs – many of them 2009 Ernst & Young ‘World Entrepreneur Of The Year’ country winners – including their opinions on the current climate and economic recovery. While no two of them have followed the same path to suc-cess, in the broad array of their experiences there are commonalities – a willingness to suffer doubt and potential failure, a special genius for recognising an unmet need, and a knack for hiring people who have the same sense of mission. Download the report, and watch the short films online at www.ey.com.
