Open for reservations in October, Thompson Chicago is located in the heart of Chicago's affluent Gold Coast neighbourhood. The 247-room hotel offers six bi-level penthouse lofts, a 305-square-metre fitness centre, and a winter garden. The signature restaurant, Nico, opens in December, headed up by executive chef Paul Kahan, winner of the 2013 James Beard Outstanding Chef Award. An authentically Italian, seafood-driven concept, Nico will offer rustic regional Italian cuisine to hotel guests and local diners alike.
Hyatt Times Square
Now accepting reservations from January 1, 2014 and beyond, Hyatt Times Square New York is just steps from the business district and famous attractions. With only 11 spacious rooms per floor, the 54-storey hotel feels intimate and residential. The chic apartment-style guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and eye-catching original, city-themed art. Dine at the hotel's stylish George Wong-designed vintage diner, or the NYC rooftop restaurant and lounge with its river-to-river views and cosy indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
Avek is one of the newest openings on Rua Joaquim Antunes, a street in the Pinheiros district containing a string of good restaurants. French chef Alain Uzan heads up the restaurant kitchen, and the menu he has developed for Avek blends creations he has perfected through his history as a chef with dishes created specially for the new place. Follow magret with greens, walnuts, and Roquefort with 'Le petit Parisien' steak tartare with three sauces, and macaroons with red berries.
Alvear Art Hotel
Located in one of the most traditional areas of Buenos Aires, San Martin Square, this urban-style building consists of 137 guestrooms and two suites decorated in a personalised, elegant, and contemporary style. Contraluz Restaurant offers a seasonal menu under a bright glazed roof. The spa and fitness centre at the very top of the building feature the best panoramic views of the city. The Wellness area offers a sauna, hammam, Scottish shower, and heated pool with retractable roof.
The second restaurant from chef Fabio Trabocchi and his wife Maria, Casa Luca is the casual sister restaurant to their fine-dining establishment Fiola. Honouring the cuisine of his upbringing in the Marche region of Italy and the transmission of culinary traditions through the generations, the menu features authentic Marche recipes that not only brought Trabocchi and his father together, but are also dishes that he now enjoys sharing and preparing with his nine-year-old son and the restaurant's namesake, Luca.
