What’s in my travel bag - Francisco Costa

As women’s Creative Director for renowned US fashion house Calvin Klein, Brazil native Francisco Costa ushered the brand into a new minimalist era where frills and ruffles were passed up for a sleek, pared-down silhouette.

“I have two homes – New York, where I moved when I was 21, and, of course, my native Brazil. In Brazil there’s Rio, and it’s really so much about the people. You really need to let yourself go a little…you need to be really open-minded and explore the great food and the way people interact.

“In New York, I think there is so much going on in Brooklyn. It’s an exciting time for this generation just as it was when I first came to New York.

“The most interesting place I have been to is Cinque Terre in Italy. All the towns have absolutely no hotels so you have to stay in people’s homes. Getting to know the art of each place is really a way to connect with the people. We are all the same, but we all just follow different patterns, and it’s these patterns that are so interesting. One cannot miss the galleries and the museums of a place.”

The Bag
A simple, hand-crafted bag by Raymond Avila. I know him personally and I’ve been using this bag forever.

The Contents
Always white shirts (Calvin Klein Collection) – it’s my uniform; I’ve been wearing it since I was a child going to school.

A pair of Verdura cufflinks because you never know where you’re going to end up!

My cashmere throw from Calvin Klein Collection. It always reminds me of home.

My personal cologne mix (patchouli, sage, and a touch of peppermint). I make it myself.

Tracie Martyn organic skin serum– she’s a friend and I love going to her New York spa.

A pair of Verdura cufflinks because you never know where you’re going to end up!
