Land Rover recently announced that 2015 will be the final year for its esteemed Defender Series, the model that started it all and traces its origins to 1948 at the beach in Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey, where Maurice Wilks first sketched the original Land Rover and the company’s trio of new, special-edition models, were revealed.

Heritage Edition
Inspired by early Land Rover models, the Heritage adds a modern twist and a Grasmere Green paint job contrasted with a white roof. For those who recall the first pre-production Land Rover, known as ‘Huey’, the Heritage features an old-school grille and HUE 166 graphics as a throwback to the Huey’s registration plate. Available in August, only 400 Heritage models will be made across three distinct styles: 90 Hard Top (HT), 90 Station Wagon (SW) and 110 Station Wagon body.

Adventure Edition
Only 600 of these ‘go anywhere, do anything’ models will be produced in this special run, which comes with added underbody protection and Goodyear MT/R tyres that boost the truck’s all-terrain capability. Each will include bespoke decals and a stylish leather-trimmed interior. Meant to showcase Land Rover’s ability to explore the unexplored, the truck also comes with a snorkel, roof rack, and rear access ladder, and will be available In 90 SW and 110 SW models.

Autobiography Edition
The first of the final three Land Rover editions to be released is the most luxurious! The Autobiography edition – primed with a two-tone paint job, and full Windsor leather cabin with semi-aniline leather seats – will be available in April. But don’t let the pretty face fool you. The Autobiography also has more power than the Heritage and Adventure editions, boosted to 150 HP from 122 HP. Only 80 of the Autobiography models will be made, exclusively in the 90 SW style.
