Art Pottery Australia
Anita Harris Art Pottery is based in Longton, Stoke on Trent, the heart of 'The Potteries'. Their beautiful hand decorated pottery is creating by carefully brushing layer upon layer of volatile reactive glazes onto our pieces and perfectly firing them to produce stunning pieces of ceramic art.
With the internet buzzing with retail orders, Anita has decided there is enough demand in Australia to start promoting her stunning collection here directly and is currently on the lookout for resellers.
The collection is entirely hand decorated in Stoke on Trent, England, by established artists Anita Harris, Samantha Johnson and Peter Harris, who Anita calls her ‘Dream Team.’This is an exciting alliance of artists who already had their own worldwide audiences and the union brings together a host of knowledge plus glazing and painting skills.
Their new range of pottery offers small runs of limited editions, commission pieces and exclusive patterns along with their standard ranges. The pieces are very colourful with backgrounds of burnt orange, deep reds and bright yellows. They blend perfectly with the ‘Australia’ feel and will brighten up any home.
Anita Harris was formally head of design at Poole Pottery and also worked at the Moorcroft Coobridge stoneware. Her wealth of knowledge in design and specialised glazes, together with that of her team has led to the creation of a new and exciting range of pottery not seen in Australia before.

Eric Knowles of BBC’s Antiques Road show fame is very supportive of Anita Harris designs and describes her pottery as the ‘antiques of the future’. He dropped into the studio recently for an impromptu visit and was very impressed with their latest creations.
Just recently Anita Harris Art Pottery was selected by Charlotte Abrahams as one of the ‘spotted’ new designers to exhibit at the Top Drawer trade show in London.
Spotted is designed to create an entry point for a whole new generation of exhibitors and this year’s show featured 12 handpicked design based businesses who have never before been seen at a major UK trade fair. ‘Everyone featured within the “spotted” area was chosen for the quality and originality of the things they make,’ Charlotte said.
Anita Harris was head designer at Poole Pottery for ten years, and some of her designs are still their best sellers today. She wanted a change of direction and so joined Moorcroft"s Cobridge Stoneware and Black Ryden as a designer decorator. Her knowledge and use of the reactive 'living glaze' is second to none, and her design gift is extraordinary. She has produced designs for Harrods of Knightsbridge, Bloomingdales, Liberty of London and Selfridges to name but a few, and her work is highly sought after.
Samantha Johnson studied at the University of Wolverhampton gaining a BA(Hons) in Ceramics and 3-Dimensional Design. She then ran her own small ceramic studio until she was approached by Moorcroft to develop their new concept 'Cobridge Stoneware' where she became a leading designer. It was here she met Anita and when the company closed it was the natural decision to continue working together. Sam's earliest design when with Anita called 'Coming Home' is still a strong seller 6 years later!
Peter Harris Anita's son has also proven to have a natural flair and is very talented in the art of spraying, designing and now jewellery making! He has previously worked asa a Silversmith and Blacksmith with the likes of Francis Russell and William Walker, as well as studying at the Salisbury College of Art.
Recently joined by Matthew Hollinshead, an expert and technical instructor in photography, and also turning his hand to spraying, designing, decorating and website design, our 'Dream Team' is now complete.
