Finding a family holiday which suits teenagers can be a real challenge. At a time when your children are becoming more independent and have their own ideas about what makes a great holiday, you can find yourself going around in circles trying to find a trip that suits all the family. Family travel writer Nichola West shares her top five trips for activity holidays with teens.

If your family are fans of cycling, take a holiday on two wheels. Saddle Skedaddle offer cycling vacations for families, including guided trips across Morocco, where you can camp in the desert near the High Atlas Mountains. Trips are graded to your level of cycling.

Learn to take on the ski slopes like a true Olympian at the Powder White Slopestyle course in Méribel, France. With the support of expert instructors, you can master the art of big-air jumps and the half-pipe, while enjoying great skiing at the same time.

Families can get their first taste of surfing with Surf Camp near Sydney, Australia. Their five-day surfing course is designed for beginners and will give you the required skills to take to the water, with paddling, standing, and spotting the right wave all included. Surf Camp offers training for all levels of experience, and accommodation is available in its cabins.

A true wilderness adventure is awaiting you and your family in Sweden. With an experienced guide, set off from Stockholm to explore the country’s forests, lakes, and woods, and spot wild moose, beavers, and wolves along the way. This break is all about experiencing real wildlife as you stay in primitive forest huts, learn how to track animals, and cook your meals over open fires.

Greece’s Rhodes island is the perfect place to learn about water sports and get a relaxing break at the same time. The Levante Resort with Mark Warner Holidays offers training in sailing, windsurfing, and scuba diving. There’s also tennis tuition, mountain biking, and a kids’ club with groups for teens.
