fine food - Four fantastic ice-creams
Written by Oryx
Four fantastic ice-creams from around the world.
Heraldo: Cadore, Buenos Aires
In the heart of theatreland, this parlour is perfect for stopping through after a show, or after dinner along the famous Avenida Corrientes. A simple but classic flavour list is led by an unrivalled Dulce de Leche, and they do delivery too!
Soft serve: Mr Whippy, Britain
Britain's original soft serve, Mr Whippy ice cream vans once traversed Britain's neighbourhoods freely but in recent years provide ice cream and catering services for carnivals, concerts, sporting and other events. Tasty, airy and a piece of ice cream nostalgia.
Gelato: Della Palma, Rome
Close to the Pantheon just north of the Piazza della Rotonda, Della Palma serves 100 flavours – including basil, watermelon, ginger and more than a dozen kinds of chocolate – as well as a colourful selection of bulk candy and several flavours of granita on rotation.
Glace: Martine Lambert, Paris
There is no flavour signboard at Martine's because fresh and exotic flavours are created daily at the will of the chef. The result is a robust series of smooth, abundantly flavourful concoctions – mango leads the way, personally – sans additives or colourants.
