Qatar Airways Holidays - December

Oryx presents its insider’s tips for places to visit in December. Soak up the wintry atmosphere in London, go from the slopes to the sea in Lebanon’s diverse climate, and embrace Kuala Lumpur’s downpours.
You don’t visit England for its weather; you visit despite it. As winter draws on in December, London lights up with a magical atmosphere. For many, this is the best time to head to the capital, when the large shopping streets twinkle with colourful lights and extravagant window displays; public parks and gardens transform their outdoor spaces into open-air skating rinks; and family and friends huddle together drinking hot chocolate among the traditional wooden cabins of the seasonal markets. And of course, the view of the city from above on a crisp winter’s evening is one not to be missed.

Visitors to Lebanon in December have the unique opportunity to ski in the morning and swim in the Mediterranean in the afternoon. Beirut’s coast features warm days and sea temperatures of around 20°C, yet only an hour from the capital the ski resorts of the Mount Lebanon range are open for the winter season.

Warm temperatures and rainfall can be expected year-round with KL’s climate. In case of a downpour, Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve offers a canopy treetop walk that you can take in any weather, affording beautiful views of the city’s skyline, and the temple complex at Batu Caves is also stunning in the rain.
