Oryx presents its insider’s tips for places to visit in September.
Explore Malta’s historic sites, discover Budapest’s unique events, and enjoy the idyllic weather in Mauritius.
Malta’s climate is typically Mediterranean – influenced by the sea. September sunny, warm, and mostly dry, with average temperatures of around 24°C. The capital city, Valletta, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a rare urban inhabited site that has preserved its original features in near entirety. As one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world, you’ll come across a historical site around every corner. The grid of narrow streets boast some of Europe’s finest artworks, monuments, and palaces, alongside quaint shops and cafés, while Valletta’s main streets are lined with larger international brands.
September is one of the nicest months to visit Budapest – days are still warm but not as hot as in the summer, and the city is quieter than in the peak months of July and August. The month is filled with unique activities and events, including the National Gallop horse race, the Chocolate and Sweets Festival, and Cultural Heritage Days.
