Believe the hype, because if you love to shop, New York City’s famed Fifth Avenue is a must-see destination.
It is Manhattan’s compass, for cutting a broad and bustling swathe through the centre of the island; you can get almost anywhere in New York City from Fifth Avenue. You can also buy practically anything.
The best shopping takes place between 39th and 60th Streets, an interval boasting the NYC flagship stores of many of fashion’s big names, including Bergdorf Goodman, Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Cartier, not to mention the iconic Saks and Tiffany & Co.
But it isn’t just fashion. If you want a gadget, you’ll find it here. For example, Best Buy’s main Manhattan shop, featuring the latest in phones, cameras, and computers, as well as larger items that won’t quite qualify as carry-on! Near Central Park, the distinctive 32ft glass cube provides entry into The Apple Store, which offers not only hundreds of Macs, iPods, and iPhones for customers to try and buy, but hands-on workshops as well.
The magical FAO Schwarz is a must-visit. There’s plenty to buy for certain, but the toy store is worth even a walkthrough without your wallet leaving your pocket, as innovation and imagination fill every inch.
