luxe shopping - Orchard Road, Singapore

Ask anyone who’s been to Singapore, and they’re sure to tell you that Orchard Road is a veritable shopper’s paradise. This short strip of sensory overload, running from Tanglin Road to Dhoby Ghaut, has more boutiques, department stores, and luxury flagships than you can shake a credit card at. Takashimaya, Singapore’s largest department store, is a good starting point. Here you’ll find everything from Hermès to adorable Singapore souvenirs at the Rose Shop. While there is a plethora of shopping malls on this street, you won’t want to miss ION Orchard, if not for its retail offerings (which include Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs) then surely for the sheer architectural marvel. For a more High Street fashion experience, the equally well-designed 313@Somerset is quite the destination. It features a sprawling four-level Forever 21 flagship and a three-level outpost of the ubiquitous ZARA. A more bespoke luxury shopping experience can be had at DFS Galleria, which offers items from Alfred Dunhill to Vera Wang, and exclusive, limited edition bags designed by leading luxury brands. For a quick breather (you’ll need it) turn into Emerald Hill, a tree-lined alley right opposite 313@Somerset, filled with quaint shop houses that offer a night-and-day contrast to the bustle of Orchard. Grab a bite and cocktail at one of the tiny bars, and you’ll be ready for more spending back at Orchard. Contact

Beauty EmporiumLadies will not want to miss the Beauty Emporium, just a short drive from Orchard Road at Dempsey Hill. Designed as a gourmet grocer (they even have mini shopping carts), this is a haven for all types of beauty products, from organic skincare to well-known makeup brands. A full range of spa services is also available. Male companions not interested in beauty products will be more than happy to lounge at the adjacent über-designed Barracks Café. |
