This month, Movinter in São Paulo and Furnitex in Melbourne showcase their respective home-grown talents that lead the way in furniture and interior design.

Melbourne Exhibition Centre
Visitors are spoilt for choice when they visit Furnitex. Not only will
they see over 500 exhibitors with Australasia’s most comprehensive range of contemporary furniture and furnishing, Furnitex also hosts
a number of key industry events
and showcases special feature areas designed to display, inform, and educate visitors on all the industry’s latest products, colours, and trends.
Co-located at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre with Furnitex, Decoration + Design Melbourne
is the largest interiors event in Australia with over 150 leading Australian and international high-end soft furnishings, fabrics, and interior product companies
and their latest offerings.
Another highlight of Furnitex is VIVID (Vibrant Visions In Design),
an inspirational display of new works by the most talented Australian designers. The VIVID design competition will feature over 90 pieces from 46 designers.
This year's competition will show
a diverse range of eco-friendly pieces, with up-cycling – the process of converting waste materials into new materials or products – emerging as a strong trend. Fifteen pieces made entirely from recycled materials will be included in the exhibition, including an Ottoman made from cricket ball off-cuts, and a coffee table made from magazines.
Furnitex is also an event partner
of the State of Design Festival, incorporating more than 50 design events in and around Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Interior Eventos, Mirassol
Movinter is a furniture fair held in Mirassol, São Paulo every two years. Serving as a benchmark for the industry in South America, the exhibition aims to discover new talent, presenting the latest trends in furniture with bold, distinctive, and creative designs, while sharing knowledge within the industry.
Considered one of the most important fairs in the state of
São Paulo, Movinter features 140 exhibitors from eight Brazilian
states. Around 37,000 visitors from Brazil and worldwide will attend
Exhibitors are aiming to bring furniture with better designs and
a focus on the environment, making pieces with reforested wood and other kinds of raw and eco-conscious materials.
One of the event’s main highlights
is the National Design Show by students and former students of furniture design from a school called SENAI/CEMAD. They create new and interesting furniture to showcase the latest talent in the area to the furniture market.
The show schedule also includes technical seminars, workshops, and debates on issues related to design, technology, management, and marketing.

Furnitex 2010 products
The Pentium lighting range consists of contemporary illuminated furniture and lighting, lit with colour change, rechargeable, and remote controlled LED lighting for outdoor use. Products are energy-efficient and are manufactured from materials that are fully recyclable.
Products are made from predominantly Australian hardwoods such as Jarrah, Tasmanian Oak, and Tasmanian Blackwood. All Australian timbers are harvested from sustainable forests. The Orlando dining range is made from solid Chinese ash in a clear stain.
With the release of two new designs for Furnitex, Satara’s contemporary range of all-weather outdoor furniture, such as the Bukawu Day Bed, provides many classic and contemporary designs to create the ultimate outdoor sanctuary.
