In the movie Back To The Future Part II, Marty McFly predicted the hoverboard for 2015. It’s a year early.

The next evolution in extreme water sports launches this summer. Developed by jet-ski champion Franky Zapata, whose Flyboard (shown below left) shoots ‘riders’ 14m into the air and allows them to swim and leap like a dolphin, the Rocky Mountain Hoverboard by ZR takes powerful short-board surfing to another level for a truly addictive experience.

The tremendous water pressure is generated from a connected personal watercraft (180-300bhp jet-ski) via a 17m hose to the base of the carbon-fibre short-board, and it uses the same fitting as the Flyboard.

Hoverboard by ZR, US$2,675
Hoverboard by ZR complete kit, US$5,850 for pre-orders
