Six easy steps to the ultimate smoky-eye look.
Step 1: The Base-ics
Start with a soothing, firming eye serum such as Dior’s Capture Totale Eyes Essential Eye Zone Boosting Super Serum (US$70) to make sure you’re putting your best eyes forward.
Step 2: Highlight
Start on the inner eye and sweep YSL’s Touche Éclat (US$46) across the lower eye zone where you’re prone to dark circles and discolouration. Apply a little highlight on the outer corner for a wide-awake glow.
Step 3: Blurred Lines
Using a blendable eyeliner such as Giorgio Armani’s Smooth Silk in Black (US$25), draw a thick line along the lash line on both the lower and upper lids. Using the blender at the bottom of the pencil, lightly blend upwards on the top lid and horizontally on the bottom lid, taking care not to spread the colour too much.
Step 4: Work the Magic
Sweep the second-darkest colour in Giorgio Armani’s Eyes to Kill Eyeshadow Quad in colour 1 – Maestro (US$66) all along the top lid, from the outer corner of the eye towards the inner corner and all the way up to the crease.
Step 5: Accent
Draw a thick line with the darkest colour in the palette on the upper lid, blending upwards towards the crease. Draw the same thick line on the lower lid and lightly blend only up to the top half of the bottom lid.
Step 6: Add the Drama
Define the lashes with a jet-black mascara such as Diorshow in Catwalk Black (US$38), and you’ve successfully created the ultimate smoky eye!
