What’s in my travel bag - Bobbi Brown

Chicago native Bobbi Brown has become the world’s make-up guru. Her eight make-up guides are bestsellers and her eponymous make-up line sells all over the world, thanks to a buy-out by make-up giant The Estée Lauder Companies. Brown also lends her time and make-up to the Dress for Success initiative, which gives underprivileged women access to clothes and makeovers for job interviews.

“It’s always been my dream to go on safari, and this past July this dream finally came true. I have to admit, it was the best trip of my life. First, my family and I (15 of us!) stopped in Cape Town, which is stunning. Everything was amazing, not to mention inspiring. One night we had dinner with a man who was in Robben Island prison with Mandela. He was fascinating and so charming. Then my family and I were off to our safari through South Africa and Botswana. The animals are literally right in front of you, and they seem to be looking into your eyes – it’s unbelievable. We witnessed mothers giving new babies a bath and a cheetah catching an impala while a leopard waited patiently to steal his catch. Even our driver was amazed. I’ve also just been to London for Fashion Week, where I was working backstage. I have a crush on everything British – the people, the accents, and the Union Jack flag – I’m obsessed!

Essential make-up regimen for the plane:

Cream Concealer

A good concealer is the secret of the universe. It instantly makes you look well rested and refreshed.

Extra Soothing Balm

It’s a little miracle product. I dab on a little to the apples of the cheeks, right over make-up, to help plump up skin and give it more radiance.

Mascara

Last but not least, a couple of coats of really black mascara onto lashes helps instantly open up the eyes.

Pot Rouge

Before I land, I apply a little pop to the cheeks – it makes the complexion look fresh and vibrant, even after a long flight.

Bobbi Brown Customisable Palette

I load it with some of my favourite shadows. It helps streamline my make-up routine without sacrificing my options. I’ll usually include a couple of brown shades to be used as my shadow, liner, and brow filler.

Fashion essentials:

Ted Muehling jewellery – I’ll always pack a pair of sparkly earrings or pearls to dress up my outfits, and...

... Love Quotes shawls – I’ll pack a couple of pashminas since they double as blankets on the plane, serve as cosy scarves for cooler climates, and add colour to any outfit.

And for the hair Bumble & Bumble hair care products in mini sizes – they’re perfect when you’re on the go.

The bag

I love Louis Vuitton luggage. It comes in all shapes and sizes, and the design is simple and chic.
