One of the finest designers of our time, this British fashion icon was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2000. Aside from vibrant colours and patterns, Smith is best known for his unique blend of  traditionalism and cutting-edge design, never compromising on British craftsmanship. His brand sells in 66 countries worldwide.

“It’s always difficult for me to choose my favourite out of all the places that I have travelled to, but Cambodia, Vietnam, and India stand out in the eastern hemisphere. In the west, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil were particularly fascinating with such different cultures. I am travelling to Guadelupe for my next short break – it was my wife’s choice and I’m very excited indeed.”

The Bag– “I usually take a backpack when I travel; I find it really useful. I take photos every day and it’s good to have my hands free. Plus at the airport or train station you always need to access your passport and travel documents, so it’s very convenient to have a small bag on your back. I also use a leather holdall for short trips.”

The Contents– “I always travel with a notebook and a pencil: I prefer to use these rather than an iPad because I can easily draw an idea or write notes. I also always carry my camera with me.”

“I have a good-luck charm – a small metal rabbit that I always have in my pocket. It has special meaning because it was given to me by my wife, Pauline.”

“I always have my Paul Smith watch and my Paul Smith travel suit so I can arrive on time, looking fresh because my suits don’t wrinkle!”

“The best souvenir I ever bought was a really nice old 1940s Leica camera in brass that I found at a street market in Germany.”
