Get nostalgic for some old-fashioned fun as these classic games and puzzles are brought up to date.

Belgian Dart Set

Canadian manufacturer Best Made pride themselves on creating quality products that are built to last. Their Belgian Dart set is no exception and comprises a basswood board with eight finely balanced, steel-tipped darts. Made by hand in a small workshop, its classic styling will look great mounted on any wall.

Scrabble Typography Edition

This striking, limited-edition Scrabble set is a must-have for lovers of word games and typography. It features walnut tiles in different fonts, a six-panelled solid walnut gameboard lined with non-slip cork to stay put, and a walnut storage case.

Gold Playing Cards

Bring a dose of glamour to your card playing with this deck by Japanese designers IDEA International.

Star Dominoes

One of the oldest games known to civilisation, dominoes was even played
in ancient Egypt. Design collaborators Fredericks & Mae have given the usual black and white tiles the star treatment.

Bronze Bones Dominoes

Bring a bit of gravitas to your domino games with this heavyweight set by Bronze Bones. The bronze is hand machined and the set comes in a leather-bound hollowed-out book, complete with score pad, pencil, and sharpener.

Gravity Dice

Parisian artist Suzy Lelièvre specialises
in transforming everyday objects into things that suddenly seem uncommonly logical. Her ‘Gravity dice’ may not be the best for a game of snakes and ladders, but they are a definite conversation starter.
US$266 for a set of five.

Fredericks & Mae Bocce Set

Eight three-inch hand-painted wooden balls, one jack, a booklet, and a cotton carrying bag. Bocce is closely related to bowls and pétanque, with a common ancestry of ancient games played in the Roman Empire.

Wobble Chess Set

All the pieces in this chess set have weighted rounded bottoms so they wobble back and forth but never fall over, while the concave chess squares create a playful landscape and stabilise the quivering chess pieces.

Romaine Lagrange Gates croquet set

Composed of sycamore maple, cork, and leather, each element has been simplified to make it compact and usable inside.

An ancient Chinese puzzle, tangram challenges you to form all manner of shapes according to an outline, using only the seven tangram pieces. This version has been given a cool, monochromatic makeover by US-based designers Lacoli and McAllister.
