Whether at home, on the move, or at the beach, the latest in audiophile gadgets strike all the right notes.
Samsung Ultra HD 4K TV (55" and 65")
amsung has launched smaller (relatively speaking, of course) models of its Ultra HD 4K TV sets, with 55” and 65” models joining the flagship 85” S9. The new sets feature the same Micro Dimming Ultimate LED illumination used in the S9, as well as Samsung’s proprietary 4K upscaling engine, with auto-detection and scaling of both standard-definition and Full HD TV signals. As TVs become part of a living room’s design identity, the pop and pizazz of the Ultra HD 4K – a resolution of 3,820 x 2,160, making it four times as vivid as Full HD – will surely become an essential luxury market fixture.
Beoplay H6 Headphones
As any longtime music listener will tell you, earbuds’ inability to block external sounds necessarily makes for a less pure listening experience. Bang & Olufsen have solved this with their new H6 over-ear headphones, a lightweight model at only 230g that seamlessly blends minimalist design with maximum sound performance.
Focal XS 2.1 Computer Speaker System
French audio company Focal – known for high-end recording studios and luxury car-audio systems – have turned out an exceptional, high-end PC speaker system that boasts three amplifiers integrated inside the subwoofer, with 70W RMS for the bass and 2 x 30W RMS for the speakers. The result is robust sound with glowing clarity carried by a subwoofer.
Zipp Portable Speaker
Despite being the size of a couple of stacked coffee cans, the Zipp portable speaker puts out a massive 60 watts of sound – all of them useful. Packing a Wi-Fi radio for Airplay rather than relying on Bluetooth, the Zipp is able to use a lossless stream for wired-quality sound without the wires offering up crisp highs, deep booming bass, and volume that doesnt approach distortion until dialled almost to maximum.
